Can i use AgOpenGPS to record a path then follow it in both forwards and reverse?

Hello, I’m currently exploring options in regards to steering automation for a hedge cutting machine. The end goal would be to mark a starting position, drive the path following a hedge, mark an end point, then follow the path back in forth in either forward or reverse, i.e. without doing a U-Turn!

  • Would AgOpenGPS allow me to do this within its current functionality?

Also, If this was the only functionality required, could push buttons on a joystick or alike be used
to mark the start, end and activate/disengage auto steer?

  • Can Inputs be used to simplify the need to constantly use the HMI interface/Tablet?

Any guidance (No Pun Intended =) ) is greatly appreciated
Kind Regards
Nick

There is a setting in the steering settings pages that allows autosteer in reverse. Expand the steer menu then hit the steering wheel icon on the top row.
Ive no experience if it works or even how good it might be

there is also recorded path function ,that i use trimming lanes
in fields i just use boundary curve

It sure can do what you ask. The only time you would need to touch the screen is to set the A-B line parallel to the Hedge and then hit the engage button that you mount somewhere and then drive back and forth on the same line as much as you want. Some things to consider are where you mount the gps Antennas so they can have a clear view of the sky and dont get covered in trimmings and with tall hedges there can be some shading of satellites.

“recorded path” feature is literally this.

Thank you to all who replied!, It looks like the functionality is there, maybe I just need to setup hotkeys to make it all work smoothly with my intended workflow!

As a follow up question, If i need some custom programming to setup custom hotkeys, are there people on this forum that could do this? (for fair renumeration of course!)

Kind Regards
Nick
