Hello
I know there are some different ways to steer the tractor with AgOpenGPS, the Keya steering wheel or the external Phidgets motor are two of them. I’m still not sure on the other options: for the hydraulic valves (danfoss valve?) I need a Cytron, but does this method work on all tractors with regular hydraulic steering? Can I just buy such a hydraulic valve and install it? And I guess to be able to just connect to CANBUS, the tractor needs to come pre-installed with motorized hydraulic steering valve blocks? What are people using?
Thanks for all answers
You can install a regular hydraulic valve on pretty much anything with hydraulic steering. You just plumb it in. There are a couple kinds of valves. You will chose one based on what type of steering valve your machine has; open center or a couple variations on load sense. Then you will use a cytron to control the two main solenoids on the valve. Just a wire to each and a ground.
Then there is usually a safety solenoid to disable the system while driving when you are not using auto steer and some type of system to disable auto steer when you manually turn the steering wheel. It really pretty simple and makes for a nice install.
There are a couple people on here that make and sell the valves for a reasonable price. They are not always in stock so you have to check around
