NTRIP Caster alternative

I have watched endless YouTube’s on port forwarding. Let’s say I am trying to access 192.168.1.11 port 2101. I port forward to that ip number and port 2101. On Telus Smart hub I can’t find anywhere a firewall setting that I need to open port 2101.
On my Sim card data modem it asks what Ip I want to port forward to and what Ip I am forwarding from?
I have also tried DMZ mode but that doesn’t ask for ports so don’t think that will work as Ntrip clients use ports.
It’s like I am not even getting past the first handshake with my router, more like a firewall port is not open more than like I have port forward wrong.
I am not using any computers in the setup except the one I have in the loop programming the modem/hub and that will be gone once it’s working, so I don’t think a computer firewall is the issue.
I have Ring Cameras and couple other programs that allow me to log in and view cams or remote desktop to computers so it has to be possible to access my network. I realize these programs have a cloud type link to them, maybe that’s what I need from esprtk caster

Maybe I need to set gateway or dns server to a setting that’s local?

Quickly looked at some Tellus manuals.
Can you find “Virtual Server Settings”??? Maybe look from there…

Yeah, I was in that part of the Telus unit, played with all the settings I thought were needed. I am stumped

You really can’t do port forwarding with Smarthub. You may or may not have a real public IP address on it. Most likely you don’t. Somewhere up the line is a real IP address which is shared with many other users, as is the case with cell phones. It’s really designed for outward communication (and response) only. Servers are unsupported or prohibited.

I just verified that. I went to my information page and looked at my WAN address which is 10.x.x.x, which is completely private. In other words no other host on the internet can reach it directly.

Since there are no more public IPv4 addresses available in the world anymore, don’t expect Starlink to give you a public address either. It’s all private addresses with IPv4 now. If Telus would give you IPv6 that’s potentially a different story, but I’ve been watching IPv6 not happen for decades now.

Another alternative is a VPN system, but one designed to let you connect multiple computers to each other privately and securely as if they were on the same LAN. Been a long time since I looked into this so I have no suggestions.

If you have Linux experience, the best way to do this is to get a virtual private server and use that to host your ntrip server. I’ve been running a VPS for my own personal use for nearly 20 years now, as that was the kind of thing I did professionally in my previous life.

Thanks Torriem, that’s pretty much what I have come to for a conclusion. If I do whatsmyip I get a different IP than what my Wan Ip shows on my router. It almost looks like there might be a couple of jumps so I think the option of port forward etc is not going to work. I could just go back to rtk2go and send data up there and then just log in there with rovers. Was just thinking I could do it locally. I don’t have any linux experience or knowledge of virtual private server, may have to Google that.

You could also ask from your Internet Service Provider how to get a Public Dynamic IP address and would there be an extra cost for it.
A lot of people need those for IP cameras, remote control for gadgets, game servers etc

For me it is just setting another APN-address at 4G LTE router at no extra cost.
To get a fixed ip would cost for me maybe about 50 per month. We used to have one for our small hydro plant, but gave it up years ago as public dynamic IP + DDNS service woks well and cost is very small.
