I am trying to learn how to use bno imu on the machine and boom, bucket, arm. And put 2 gnss antennas on top of the cab for heading. So I can know the exact location of my teeth on my bucket.

Trying to calculate the teeth height with antennas on the frame will be ready hard!

Especially if you try to achieve this with cheap BNOs!

true, maybe i should learn more about angle sensors? maybe if i put the imu and antenna on the bucket the math wont be so hard? i am using BNO085, what other open source imu would you recommend. any tips is appreciated, thanks!

There is a fairly standard procedure for calculating the coordinate frames of spatial linkages called the Denavit–Hartenberg convention. This might sound scary but if you watch some youtube videos and understand how to multiply a matrix it’s not that bad. It’s very procedural and really just filling in some measurements.

I agree that BNO’s would not be a good choice at all for measuring the angles. You could use the same sensors AgOpenGPS uses for a WAS?

Thanks for the info. Would the bno085 be fine to use to add tilt to a survey pole? Is there code for this?
