Back again, with another set of 3D models as my contribution to this community.
Some time was spent deliberating over what laptop to buy, before ending up purchasing a used Dell 5310 2 in 1.
Why? It was cheap, touch screen, a 2 in 1 so folded back to be just a touch screen, has USB-C charging and I have had a pretty good track record with Dell before. Only downside was the lack of an RJ45 port, so using a USB to RJ45 adapter.
I spent some time modelling a 3d printable laptop clamp that fits this model Dell and presumably many other tablets. This clamp uses some M5, M6 bolts, nuts and wing nuts, as well as some adhesive backed foam tape and a RAM mount ball for mounting purposes.
All thats required is the 3d printing of 3 parts, and the laser cutting/plama cutting of another part. If you have access to a service like SendCutSend, the laser cutting is easy, i unfortunatly dont but have a local shop with a laser.
You can see where ive cable tied my amazon RJ45 adapter, theres some provisions on the back piece for cable ties for that specific purpose.
Hope this is able to be of some value to anyone looking for a tablet or a way to mount it. I have been happy with both so far, and has racked up a fair few hours so far.
