Interesting. Anyone know this person? If he was Brian, I would understand why he is so shy to advertise himself and AgOpenGPS but if he was someone else, I’d expect more visible credit to AgOpenGPS and the people behind it.

Not Brian, I thought it was because he’s copied pretty much everything from here and a lot of videos from posters here. His name Ivan, from Vancouver. I have his ph #, but he didn’t know anything much about the system, said he just sells the refurb toughbooks and components, and gives you links to pics and vids to build it.

This is one of the people who tries to earn money on a Open Source software. AFAIK you can sell the items offcourse who you need to autosteering your tractor but if he was a good decent men, he put also some information on the website about the concept of AgOpenGPS.

I’m sorry to speak so bluntly, but the guy is a thief, plain and simple.
Having just looked at this site, he has not only taken AOG and is presenting it as his own product, but he has also taken (ie downloaded and uploaded as his own rather than hyperlinking) many of the AOG members’ screenshots and videos right down to Brian’s video of his wife building section control. This is an offence, as far as I understand internet copyright.
I’m now considering removing the videos of my cart as I don’t like the idea of this man just stealing the idea and profiting from it. We openly share ideas here because of an ethic of trust.
I believe I this guy should be reported to DMCA to begin with. Anyone mind if I do so?

I don’t like that he uses my photos on his website without permission, but what can I do about it.
Actually he also links to the old wiki at: agopengps.gh-ortner.com… so perhaps he would write on his website, where he gets the other stuff as well, if you/we ask him to. Other way would be to write directions/links (at the top of all pages) to new readers at the old wiki, so they could easily find discourse and AGOpengps.
I’m just looking into this. I think we report it to DMCA and ICAAN. ICAAN can block the site from being listed on Google and can even remove and blacklist the site and it’s author.
I’ll check later and get back.

Well that was quick, I’m back. 
I just happen to be in the same room as someone who understands the law around this, my better half.
This is a clear breach of your IP (intellectual property), as is the use of anyone’s videos or images without their express consent.

I think someone should contact him and ask him to remove all media and videos that he doesn’t have permission to use. I was contemplating writing this myself, but wanted to see what everyone else thought first.
A lot of the material is Brian’s, but I very much doubt he has the time to chase this up.

In case anyone was looking at him, i blindly purchased from him without researching thinking I had someone on tap to help me through this project but its clear to me now that he has probably never even built one. I’m here now to try and figure out how to piece together the parts he recommended.

You could also attempt to put and end to it on the AOG disclaimer page.
Just have a banner that states AOG is in no way affiliated with aggps.ca, and there packages are way out of date.
Basically like the shoplifter photos at the local Canadian tire.
I hope everyones first step is to just run AOG on their home computer before jumping in.

I bought from this guy and didn’t realize this wasn’t his program. I had been asking for help but he doesn’t know anything about the program. He just forward me to the forum.
Well welcome and ask away, always someone with a anwser.
He is in no way affiliated with this group, he just makes sales using AOG and then when the customer complains, he points people in this direction for support.
Avoid like the plague!

Yeh I almost made that mistake as well.
What’s most annoying about this guy is that he is not merely selling the software with no acknowledgement of the owners of the code, but has also embedded a bunch of videos by Brian and other members into his page, again without any credit to the developer.
He’s making out this is all his work, then using this community as the helpdesk for his customers.
He is taking peoples’ money, then refusing to support them, expecting the community here to pick up the pieces.
