Hi, just went through the process of building the pcb order on the JLCPCB website. I’m looking at my cart and under quantity it says 5 as the smallest selectable quantity. I also looking at the list of parts that are going on the board and none of those parts are being ordered in a quantity less than 5. I’m sure there’s a simple explanation just want to clear this up before I bight the bullet and order it.
5 boards is the minimum order. If you want a 3D printed enclosure you’d be smart to put it on the same order to save on shipping!
wow that’s strange, what do people typically do with the other 4 boards? I guess my other tractors are going to get auto steer if the system works well for me. I’m planning on printing my own box, thanks for the tip!
jlcpcb is the worlds biggest manufacturer of pcbs they are wasting time even with 5 pcbs not one. Well… we all bought 5 and now we are ordering more cuz none ended up on the shelf collecting dust, all were used and now working in the fields…
haha yes that makes perfect sense. I’m actually happy to learn about this because the cost to do multiple tractors is a lot lower than I originally thought.
I might have missed it but there should definitely be a section on the wiki that mentions this though.
At one time you could order 2 assembled and the other three as just a board. I was doing this for untested boards.
JLCPCB has a minimum order of 5 PCB’s. Assembly defaults to the number of PCB’s in this case 5. You can select the assembly minimum of 2 when going through the order process.
Some put the extra boards up for sale
yeah that’s my thought as well if I don’t need them. I’m surprised I don’t see any posts offering extra boards for sale in this forum.
Right, I will still receive all the components as well just not installed correct?
considering this thanks!
No, if there is a minimum part order, they keep them. You only get the parts that are assembled.
hmm ok thanks for the heads up i guess if I end up needing the extra 3 boards I could order the parts separately in the future
It depends on the board. Some of the components are surface mount and must more difficult to install. There are times that people post the spare boards for sale on here. It’s rare, but they happen and usually don’t take long to sale.
ok I wont worry about it then if i dont need the extras ill sell them
Hold onto them all until you get it running. Never know when one may get damaged.
good idea
