I want to use AOG to help improve my field spraying and fertilizing. I have an ardusimple simpleRTK2B board with antenna. I don’t need or intend to use any autosteer functionality, simply the mapping to see where I have been and where I have not been. Ideally to go in somewhat of a straight line. Don’t plan to use RTK and will not have any network, cellular, or other connection in the field. The question is will this setup do that? I am ok with meter level accuracy (don’t need centimeter level). If this will do it, can someone tell me why I continue to receive a spinning no GPS icon when in AOG. In u-center and agio I can see my GPS location. I should mention I have not tried moving around simply have the GPS sitting outside. Thanks for any help offered.
Yes it should do it. I have that setup on my sprayer tractor right now. Rtk is really nice though because you can come back to exactly the same spot after you refill and everything is exactly the same.
Make sure that u center is turned off and that agio is running in the background. That’s what I can think of off the top of my head.
I never had a lot of success with this setup, I found I was chasing the light bar side the side all the time because the position signal is jumping around.
I’m not convinced that A; the rover config file is actually tailored to this setup, and B; the light bar system is either, perhaps with regards to lookahead settings etc,
I went to RTK via NTRIP and it’s miles better.
I’ve never used AOG as a light bar but I cannot see why it would be any worse than commercial light bar products. Perhaps you had the light bar leds configured for a too high resolution.
It is obvious that steering using light bar guidance is difficult, needs practise. Also F9P should give much better than 1 m (pass-to-pass) accuracy even in autonomous mode.
You can improve it by using an IMU !
I never saw the point of using RTK with a light bar besides the repeatability. Even with steering it does fine without RTK unless you need to be super accurate.
I am still missing something as I continue to get a no GPS spinning icon. Can anyone confirm the firmware I should be using on the simpleRTK2B board to use this without RTK? Can anyone tell me if there is a setting in AOG to tell it I don’t want to use RTK?
To rule one thing out. Did the tractor drive while you get spinning? In some cases you must move half a meter before spinning stops.
But most likely you have not connected in AgIO at the correct usb/com port, or at the correct baudrate
Using an IMU makes it more stable.
Same receiver configuration, in fact there’s no setting change between RTK or no RTK
You maybe activate SBAS maybe for better performance but this has nothing to do with your spinning problem
If you receive GPS data in U-center and AgIO and it seems to be around 10hz then most likely F9P configuration is good.
Then one thing I wonder is if the firewall blocks communication between AgIO and AOG, which would be unlikely unless your computer has very strict rules.
I think you must only allow the firewall for communication over UDP for the AiO.
