Working on getting a RTK base station built. Trying to decide on a location for it. Obviously you want a clear view of the sky which is easy, but was curious how far you needed to be from tin buildings? If you’re above the building can it still cause issues? I’ve got a ok spot where I can be 75’ feet away from anything tin and not be in the way but then getting power and data is a little more annoying. I’ve got a greenhouse that’s about 7’ tall, and the north wall is tin. I already have internet and power to it so I would like to mount the base relatively close, within 10-15’ if possible without causing issues.
All you can do is try it. You should be fine but ideally you would try to be at least just as high as the green house. Main thing is to try to make it as clear of a view as you can to the horizon. Metal can cause issues with that will block the horizon but you will hopefully have enough satellites to work with.
