My sprayer is set up with a Raven 460 rate controller. I use AgOpenGPS for mapping, auto steer and section control. I am currently running the xilofeon section control on an arduino nano over UDP. It works great 99% of the time, but sometimes it looses connection over UDP. When this happens the screen continues to paint, but the boom sections shut off. I then have to press the rest button on the nano, back up where I think it shut off and respray. I have changed out most pieces of hardware, but it still does it.
Is this still the best option for section control, or has something else come out? I do want to keep external switch boxes as I started with the original section control, but tapping the screen with dirty fingers wasn’t always reliable.
Sk21 rate control works well but if you disconnect the same thing will happen with the sections. I use getacs with the havis dock and had the same issue. I just cut two 1” squares of intertube and stuffed them between the top of the tablet and the dock so it couldn’t move at all in the dock. Seemed to solve that problem.
I never had an issue with the nano udp section control. Check you wiring in the box, that gave me trouble a while ago. Once i fixed the wiring it works fine. And there is one pin ( i believe d23?) On the enc ethernet asapter that needs to be disconnceted.
Thanks for the replies. I had some time to work on it today. The arduino nano used to be mounted in my section control box packed in tight with the relays and buck converter. I began thinking about it and thought that’s probably an electrically noisy environment. I moved the nano out of the relay box and placed it in a separate aluminum enclosure on top. I test ran it a while tonight and it seems to have solved my issues with the arduino locking up.
