Hi all,
to be short : i’ve succesfully build a wifi module that acts as an external modem to get RTK data into any GPS that is accepting this. All works fine. I myself use it on a Topcon AGI4 , in a Fendt 718.
When i set my RTK source to Base station → external base and connect to it with the correct serial port settings, everything works flawlessn , but the GPS does not send out NMEA data , so i need to use a fixed location in the area for the RTK stream to be correct.
When i set my RTK source to RTK network → external modem, the NMEA data is send out over serial to my module, and i get a fix really fast and solid, but the connection status of my external modem remains ‘not connected’.
So basically this is not really a problem, but i’d like to know why it’s not accepting an OK connection while it works very good. Does the GPS need any other kind of handshaking that i’m not aware of?
