Most of my fields consist of from 1 to 5 parcels completely separated by waterways but farmed as one field, often crossing the waterways and following terraces that continue thru each of the parcels. Is there a way to have multiple individual field boundaries within a larger field. Having to do each parcel separately isn’t very efficient.

Its possible, you first create and import the outter boundary and than start adding inner ones.
If I understand correctly here, multiple boundaries are wanted. Not an outer with inner ones where you don’t go?
But what is a field with multiple boundaries? I’d say multiple fields. Why does the Uprishaa proposal not work?
Hard to immagine exactly how your field are like, but another solution might be to make that outer boundary and then make AB lines/curves that you name for each specific parcel. There is a Tab in AOG that shifts between selected lines.
I have been out mapping my fields and not paying attention to my own thread. My understanding is that if am spraying and using section control my sprayer will turn on when I am within an outer bondary and turn off when I am within an inner boundary. It wouId be nice if my field could consist of multiple outer boundaries that each also contain some possible inner boundaries. I will attempt to post a picture as soon as I can get one prepared. So here is what my field consists of. The green lines are what I would like to be outer boundaries. The red line would be an inner boundary. The orange lines would be contour lines that I would use as curved guidance lines. As you can see some of the orange lines cross between outer boundaries. This is the usual way fields like this are farmed in my area. These lines are all mapped using a mobile base station for RTK and SW Maps. Last year I used my planter and AgOpen for following the contour lines and it did what I consider to be an excellent job.

We have some of the same situation. It would definitely be nice to have the ability to have multiple outer boundaries.
I connected the bigger field into one and then made some interior boundaries. Set the inside boundaries drive thru or not. Would that not work?

Yes, that is a possibility and it’s something that I hadn’t considered. That may be the way I have to do it. Thank you. The reason I would still like to find an alternative method is that it would be nice if I could set up one guidance line inside the perimeter of each of the outer boundaries to plant. This would be nice at harvest to leave some more room the maneuver the combine.
This is very common in my area, multiple boundaries that make one field. Need to be able to add outside boundaries.

I don’t have this situation but for some reason I keep thinking about it. Can you explain why more than 1 outer boundary is needed? Seems to me 1 outer and other interior would take care of any fields I’ve been in. But I’m from, Iowa, USA, real flatland. Take the roads out and you’d have a boundary around the whole state!!!

What your looking at is 120 acres. I will plant that all to one crop this year. The areas outlined in green will be planted. The areas between the green outlines are grass waterways or field drainage . The red lines also enclose a grass waterway that is in the middle of a field. When I make an inner boundary that becomes an area where my applicator will turn off when using section control. If I make each area enclosed in green an inner boundary and then try to follow the orange terraces as guidance lines and move from one green area to the other on each pass my applicator shuts off when in the green area. Here is another picture with what I would like to be one pass thru the field marked in blue. Does this explanation help? If not I can try a again. There can also still be things I don’t understand about inner and outer boundaries. Thanks for asking.

I think I’m following you. As you have the big field drawn, your planter shuts off because you go outside the field boundray and won’t come back on. So if you could have 2 outside boundaries, where would the outside, outside, boundary be and what would happen then?
So lets see if I can get this right. In the first picture if I make the outer boundary as the line in purple then the red area becomes the field and and the green areas become inner boundaries. The applicator turns on in the red area and off in the green outlined areas.
In the second picture if I make the area labeled 1 an outer boundary first it will become the field. When I then make the areal labeled 2 an outer boundary it superceds the area marked 1 and the applicator only turns on in the area marked 2. Area marked 1 is no longer useable.
I think I have the program behavior correct. I hope this answers your question.
I am following topic as well. So you can turn outside the field i suppose. If I focus only on the gap between 1 and 2 , then make boundary as Ray suggested a bit up and create the slope between 1 and 2 as an inner boundary which Do Not touch the outer boundary. Now when crossing this inner “field” your planter will turn off and on correctly. You can use a curve steer line all the way crossing the inner boundary or do only field 1 for it self. But you can’t do auto U-turn if going outside boundary.
This way you can keep same curve for 1 and 2 and use it first for 1 and later 2.
You are getting the hang of it. Drive the outside of the field, crossing the waterways. This is your outer boundary. Next drive around the waterways as inner boundaries and mark them as drive thru. Your planter, sprayer, etc. will turn off and on as expected now. It 'd be a lot easier to show you than to type it. If I can find or make a video, I’ll be back.
If we aren’t making this clear keep coming back and let us pound on it some more.
All good ideas that I think I can make work and understand . I just need to map my fields before I plant. I have done that for this year. Still gonna make field 3 a bit complicated but can probably think that one thru also. Last year on my first year out I was expecting to plant and map at the same time. That didn’t work so well.
