Hydraulic lift with section control and implement switch

Struggling to understand how to use hydraulic lift, section control and an implement switch all together. Have always used section control for planter row clutches and an implement switch for painting when the planter is down. Now I’ve added hydraulic lift and I can’t seem to get it all working correctly. It seems that auto section control needs to be on and not activated by an implement switch but this will paint when inside my headland when the planter is up. If it’s painting when the planter is up it’ll shut my rows off when I actually go over that area with the planter down.

What am I missing?

Did you make a headland in AOG? It needs one for auto section to work.

Yes, I did. It’s working fine for me but my issue is if I have to stop and lift the planter manually in the middle of the field it’s still going to paint. Is there a setting that looks at the implement switch to know if the planter is up or down?

Is implement switch wired to AIO boards work switch?

If so, these settings you play with…

Yep! Those are the exact settings I have.

I ran into the same issue when setting up hyd lift.

Only workaround i have for now is-
Disable the work switch setting after planting the headland and leave on auto sections, that way lift works and row shutoffs will work too since headland is already done.

Or mark not to apply in headlands (i have not tried this yet, screen shot is applying in headland)

The hydraulic lift only works (up or down) when the auto section control is on. When using a work switch it turns auto section control off when the implement is up, so when the work switch is active and the hydraulic lift raises the implement on the headlands and it shuts the auto section control off and therefore the hydraulic lift control will not lower the implement when re-entering from the headlands.

So what I’m finding is the only way for the hydraulic lift to work is to deactivate the work switch and have auto section control always on. This poses a problem if you have to stop and manually lift a planter in the middle of the field as it’ll continue to paint. Seems like something that could be programmed differently to avoid this scenario unless I’m setting it up wrong.

Thanks @RollingHills. I was just thinking through this and came to the same conclusion!

Check here:

Workswitch dictate the status, you want a feedback.

Section status feedback is indeed some that is missing in AOG.

After thinking a bit about this, I think the AOG logic should be changed a bit.

When autolift is enabled it should work whatever workswitch status when you choose autosections.

When a workswitch is present, painting should be done according the the workswitch status, not just automatically like now.

Does this seem right?

That’s the theory, now someone must figure out implementing it without breaking other thing.

Some Edit:
The only thing to change would be to activate autolift whatever section mode (Off-auto-man)
The other stuff I said would just break all logic I think.

I agree. Somehow the painting needs to be triggered by the work switch when activated and using hydraulic lift. I would think enabling hydraulic lift on the run screen should be enough to raise and lower at the headlands but I do not know the logic behind it all.

I opened an issue on Github.
