Keya motor install

I would post this to “Keya Motor Installation Examples - Lots of Pictures” but that thread is closed. I recently installed a Keya motor on a 1066. The tractor originally had a tilt steering wheel but the tilt was worn out and since I never used the tilt anyways I installed the motor using a tilt eliminator kit. I cut off the tab that holds the motor stationary and welded it to the tilt eliminator block.

I haven’t ever seen anyone mention how they retain the motor onto the shaft. This is a bit awkward as the end of the shaft is down inside the Keya motor and a normal nut will not fit.

I made a nut by drilling and taping a piece of tubing to match the end on my steering shaft. I then cut the head off of a bolt leaving just a bit of the bolt shank and welded the bolt head to a washer. I then welded that to the end on the tube.

Nice setup!
I have reopened the Keya pictures tread

Hi Chris, don’t you buy the motor from Keya directly? We always supply compatible adapter to work with the tractor shaft. At the moment, our adapter models can be used on most tractor brands and models.

Is there any reason the A+ adaptor doesn’t show on the list? According to the telegram A+ is the perfect fit for nh.

Hello,

I am converting my AgOpenGPS system from a phidgets 24V motor to a KEYA steering wheel. I have two initial questions.

  1. Is there any benefit of a 24V Keya motor over a 12V motor?
  2. On the phidgets motor, I had to include a freewheeling mod in order to allow the steering wheel to turn when auto steer was no engaged. Do I need any mod for the KEYA motor to allow me to turn the steering wheel when the auto steer is not engaged?

Thanks in advance!!

I think most people use the 12v option, ive only used the 12v myself
No need for the freewheel mod with the keya the steering is really easy to turn when not autosteering no friction at all like you will be experiencing with the phidgets setup.
Make sure you order through the official link there are alot of copies. Keya themselves are very good at backup and questions

Does the Keya motor fit on the shaft without tilt? I have a 966 and the shaft is very short and looks like it would hit the throttle. Also would the 966 use the same A+ adaptor?
