Moving from Cerea to AgOpenGPS CANbus

Hey All,

I’m running Cerea GPS for 6 years now but i’m done with the motor in the cab solution so looking to migrate to AgOpenGPS.
I now have a 2021 Deutz Agrotron 6165.4 TTV which is Autosteer Ready.
I would like to know what parts of the Cerea system i can reuse for AgOpenGPS and i’m not entirely sure which parts i need extra.
I want to use the CANbus to steer over the original steering valve, wheel angle sensor and buttons in the cab.

The cerea system consists of the following components:
1x SimpleRTK2B ZED-F9P GPS/GNSS board
1x Tallysman tw3972 triple-band + GNSS antenna
1x Roboteq SDC2160S motor controller
1x Tinkerforge IMU brick V2
1x Dell latitude 7220 Rugged tablet
1x Phidgets 24V 5,1Kg-cm/588RPM motor with a HKT22 encoder
1x ZTE 5g Mifi-router for RTK correctionsignal

As far as i think i know now i can reuse the SimpleRTK2B, antenna, tablet and Mifi router. Is this right?

I’m not sure what i need extra. Do i need the AIO-board AND the CAN-board or only the CAN-board?

How does the SimpleRTK2B board connect to the AIO or the CAN board?

A lot more questions and searching in the discourse to do but an answer to this would help a lot in going in the right direction.

Thanks alot in advance for the answers!

Kind Regards,
Gijs van Ham

Hello,

There different boards out there that can do this.

Indeed you can use your tablet, and router gnss antenna and depending on type of f9p rtk board you can use this also.

The 4.5 standard has 1 canbus and places to fit the f9p module.

There is a also a canbus board, as i have that uses a um982.

It all depends on:

You want empty pcbs and you build everything your self or you buy a complete pcb with everything on it.

Then you have a spare f9p module. That you can use for example own base station.

Regards,

Raymond

My SimpleRTK2B board is the Budget version. Would that be usable?

My question still stands: Is the AIO board capable of steering my tractor trough CANbus (angle sensor, steering valve and factory standard buttons)? Or will i need the CANbus board for that? Or is the CANbus board an addition to the AIO board so would i need both of them working together?

Kind regards,
Gijs

The aio boards support canbus and steer canbus tractors but only has 1 canbus chip.
The canbus board itself has 3 canbus chips
What tractor are you wanted to steer? Majority only require 1 canbus so the aio boards are fine
Edit
Just looked and its a deutz. This might require a board with 2 canbus if you want to use the joystick to engage autosteer but you will loose one of the functions so if you use a cruise setting or hms this might not be ideal so you could be better off fitting your own engage button

I don’t want to sacrifice one of the buttons on my joystick for Autosteer. That’s because I already have a factory-installed Autosteer button on the armrest. So no need to steal a random joystick button and thus lose one of my original button functions or to install a new separate button.

Really would like to use all the “autosteer ready” parts of my tractor.

Would i then need a board with one or 2 Canbus chips?

Im not 100% but im pretty sure on a deutz the engage button on the armrest wont engage autosteer with agopengps but you can pre configure one on the joystick to engage instead.
You can either fit an additional button for engage if thats the case the aio board with 1 canbus chip is absolutely fine
If you want to use a button on the joystick to engage autosteer you will need the Tony’s canbus board with extra canbus chips on it.

Ah ok thanks! If i choose to go with the canbus-board, do i also need the AIO board in addition to that? Or is the canbus-board a replacement for the “standard” AIO board?

The canbus board is a stand alone board that houses the micro f9p bno teensy and 3 canbus chips and will steer your tractor fine and that is all you need.
The aio board will also steer your tractor but as it only has one canbus chip you will need to fit an additional engage button.

Thanks alot for the fast and clear reply’s to my questions! Helping me out alot!!!

Can the canbus board run with the simpleRTK2B budget board or do i have to switch to a simpleRTK2B micro board?

The canbus boards requires the micro f9p on it as standard.
Others might also be used but im not too familiar on that.
If this is your 1st agopengps board stick with the micro f9p as it just works

If you can wait, we hope to launch the next AiO board version for Christmas (a little before I hope).

It will have 3 CANBUS, support for sdt and micro F9P.
And many others features.

That would be nice to wait for! 3 CANBUS and support for normal SimpleRTK2B F9P and micro F9P would keep the cost way down for me! Hopefully before Christmas :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

Where are the connection pins for can 2 and 3 on the AiO 4.5 ? As far as I know the micro only has one CAN

I am completely losing track of different AIO versions, my mistake and my apologies. del_boy is correct.

Ok so only one CAN on the curren AIO v4.5 board. Then i’ll wait for the new AIO board cause i would really like to use the F9P i already have, buttons valves and WAS already on the tractor. As far as i understand now that should be possible with the upcomming board?

Or just use the canbus board that has 3 canbus. If you don’t want to use any buttons on the joystick for engage theres no need for anymore than 1 canbus. You could fit your own engage button anywhere you like

Als het niet tijd is.

Any update to the new aio board
