This thread is for anything related to JD Starfire receivers running with Open Grade.
I have a guy running his StarFire 7000 with Open Grade v2.1.3. He has all sentances activated in the 7000 serial out. Overall seems to be working. But Open Grade is disconnecting a lot from the serial port a lot. Ive always assumed in these cases that a physical disconnect somewhere in the serial data stream caused this. In this case between the dell 7000 tablet and Havis docking station. Could there be other issues? And would it be possible to program Open Grade to automatically reconnect?

Have you tried a USB/Serial adapter bypassing the dock? Some have had issues with the dock’s pogo pins connecting reliably.
Well the reason I went to the Dock was to avoid using the USB on the tablet. Had a USB port break, had issues with them disconnecting as well etc. Seems like the Deere is worse than the Swiftnav or ardusimple I normally use.
Every once in a while starfire receivers output text data that’s not an nmea sentence. I can’t remember the purpose. Maybe the nmea parser is getting confused? I’d think it would just ignore anything outside of an nmea sentence though.

what about making Open Grade auto reconnect. Do you know anything about that
