I think that systems without a steering angle sensor are based on course deviations and the encoders on the steering wheel are only used to control the speed of the steering wheel. From what I’ve heard, systems without a steer angle sensor can’t cope with curved lines and there’s no automatic turning back, but I have never personally tested such a system, so I just repeat the reviews.
