how did all this go in the end, looking at doing the same.
It went well, system performed very good for 2 seasons now. This is pressure regulated sprayer, so any number of section can be on or non, pressure stays same.
Went with those 12v ali 1/2 valves. I expanded sprayer to 6 sections in mean time. I did not want to rely on nano / esp32 conditioned switches. So I went with control box that can push 12v in front of relay. So both nano and manual switch can turn on section. When nano (AOG) is used then manual section switches must be off.
Alternatives are esp32 (wifi) in that grey box on sprayer. And only bring power cable to that box, or power and ethernet cable for arduino nano udp section control, then use relays as standard.
