After setting in Agopen as “SWITCH” and connecting pin 8 to GND, the auto steering keeps turning on and off, it never stays on all the time. If I use the steering wheel icon on the screen, the steering turns on and the tractor steers correctly. The steering stays on.
This is a standard V 4.5 all in one board. Could someone please advise me what I am doing wrong?
Can be used with a switch or a button to have a physical button to enable / disable autosteer. Basically it allows to disable the steering. Has to be connected to ground. (4,21,23)
It sounds like your switch doesn’t keep the connection constantly.
Better buy a switch/button that ONLY have connection when you hold your finger on the button. Then set AOG to change between autosteer and no autosteer each time you press the button.
Try with your current switch, flip it on and off quickly (with AOG in opposite setting as you have now)
Even in the case of setting to button, stable switching is not performed. After a short press of the button, the control starts switching on and off again. Only in the case of a second click on the button, the control switches on permanently. This only applies if the second click is made exactly in the phase when the control, which is constantly switching on and off, is in the switched on phase. So a kind of double click at a precisely defined interval switches the control on permanently.
There is no stable switching. Switch/button only have connection when you hold finger on it . But AOG switch off if you are not driving faster than minimum set speed.
OR, maybe your GND connection is not good.(Thick enough wire and connected to same GND spot for all AOG components)
Here on the test bench I set 0km/h, but in the tractor while driving the behavior is the same. The steering is permanently engaged only after clicking on the steering wheel icon on the screen. After using the physical button the steering is constantly switched off and on.
Thank you for your warning, I also thought that without speed the steering will turn off. So I set the limit for automatic steering to 0 km/h, the behavior did not change. There must probably be some other parameter that is checked after pressing the button, but not checked after pressing the icon on the screen. Which causes the autopilot to stay on stably after pressing the icon on the screen, while after pressing the button it constantly turns off. Just as an aside - pressing the button to turn off automatic steering works reliably.
For a switch, the contact must be connected to turn on the autosteering, and to turn off the autosteering, the contact must be disconnected!!, the method shown in the video is for button, but in the settings you probably have it set for switch. The button turns on the autosteering when you press and release, and again when you press and release autosteering will off.
Thank you for the answer, but the difference between the switch and button function is completely clear to me, I have no error in this, I just try all the variants.
The result is always the same.
a- When I set and use it as a button, the steering never stays stably on,
b- when I set and use it as a switch, the steering also keeps turning on and off.
Only after switching on the icon on the screen does the steering remain permanently active and the tractor steers perfectly.
An interesting finding is also that if I set “external enable - NONE” I still see attempts to activate the steering after connecting pin no. 8 of the ampseal connector to GND.
Great! My problem was solved. After reinstalling Teensy as stated here: Configuring the Teensy | AgOpenGPS Documentation everything started working perfectly. Someone must have worked on a new version. AgOpenGPS is absolutely great software, I can’t express enough thanks and admiration to the people who are involved in the creation and dissemination of this great technology.
