CanBus for Beginners - Super Simple

I opened the box on the right side of the seat and found these connectors inside.

I checked the valves on my tractor are on the right side in front of the rear wheel. Near where the battery is located.

Any info would be usefull.

I have another question regarding the old arduino codes on the github.
Is it possible to use them with the older model ?

These older models are not ideal for this CAN setup, the valve you talk about is it the steering valve or just the rear hydraulic stack of valves for the rear couplings?

Zoom the camera back more so we can see everything in that box beside the seat and the steering switch just in front of that box.

For information if you want to use kbus for buttons etc these old models use a 100kbs kbus, that’s why you had errors you talk about a few posts back.

Here are the pictures.

Is there a indication in the tractor serial number which valves does it have?

Here is the workshop manual for the Fendt COM3. (700/800 series)

It doesn’t look like it’s steer ready so you’re out of luck.

There is no autosteer computer on the right side of the main computer in the box beside the seat and the picture is not zoomed out much but doesn’t look like there is a autosteer switch on the side panel either.

Your best bet is to order a hydraulic PWM valve or a dc motor and use a standard AgOpen board.

You can use CAN for buttons and headland management but not steering in this model.

Thanks for the info.

I plan to use the WAS reading that I found in the workshop manual.

I will stick with the classic dc motor as I already have a couple of those on my farm.

Update for the Fendt users.
Currently, I am working on reading the WAS signal from the tractor and it was successful.
Here are the connector and the pins where you can read the voltage output of the sensor.

This answer is not related to the CANBUS but just wanted to give a little update.

Thank you all for the support. When I finish the project, I will create a thread with the picture and the wirings of how it was done. Maybe someone chooses the same path with the WAS because it is the hardest to mount on the tractor to get a good reading.

I know that with the johndeere there are still problems to make aog work over canbus. but i recently saw this one. I wonder how that box works in terms of communication

this takes over the armrest operation.
seems useful for activating autotrack, itec, hydraulics, hitch and pto

I think they are plugging into the armrest control unit harness. They have reverse-engineered the codes for controlling the SCVs, PTO, throttle. They might be blocking the the real armrest control unit messages and injecting their own then the module is operating.

I haven’t had any chances yet but there should be a PGN for the autosteer button that the arduino could listen for to activate steering on AOG.

As for operating the steering valve itself, this product doesn’t do that. Those codes still need to be identified.

Hello, a question, we have been testing in a Fendt 716 S4 ProfiPlus, with project 2 with a potetiometer and two arduinos. Steering ECU from Fendt is responding, and steerig console led is on, but front wheels dont move with the potentiometer. Is there some button or lever to be activated for first time? Thanks in advance.

Preactivate steering (1st LED is on). Toggle activation on your arduinos (2nd LED should light up), you are successfully connected.
Important, you need to be moving otherwise wheels won’t turn.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an enclosure for Tony’s Teensy board, bought or 3D printed? @CommonRail @RGM

Great, thank you! I should have checked the wiki!

Good morning, What is the plan for connecting a f9p MICRO to tony’s can pcb? THANKS

The enclosure is on the wiki

Sorry I couldn’t find it. THANKS

Hello guys,
I have a MF 5S.135 here with quicksteer. Has anyone experience with the new generation masseys? (5S, 6S, 7S, 8S) and can tell me where to find the V-Bus?

Interesting is they have new ECUs and an OBD2 Port for engine diagnostics.

There seems to be a connection to the new ECU (X233; X233-A; X633), but not to the diagnostics port. X343 is a DB-9 connector.

That is all I know so far. Thanks in advance and best regards,

Orher Third Party manufactors plug it in at the ACM Module

Massey is steering is via the engine canbus, not the valve bus.

The new models don’t have the old x230 plug anymore so you have to make your own connection to the engine can.
