Has any put agopen on a jcb 4220 new icon model?
Currently have a john deere system on it running through the solsteer bridge link. Its not behaving very well so wanted to try my agopen system on it.
There are 5 possible plugs all looking like canbus plugs and a bigger plug that the solsteer is plugged into.
Any advice welcome on which plug to use.
A picture of the solsteer lead going to a big plug
There is also another 2 plugs in same area, 1 underneath it and 1 to the rear.
Also 2 more plugs to the side of the seat in the fuse box area. No labels on any plugs and typical jcb using 99% yellow wires for everything
Are they all the same? Some have more pins in than others but all look the same type of plug.
Is it pins C and D for can high and can low?
I’ll need to unplug everything solsteer/greenstar related aswell?
Ive only got 4 pins on that same plug as youve put up.
No pins at 8 or 9 o’clock.
What voltage would you expect to see from the canbus pins if i probed the same 2 you used
Are all canbus plugs the same across the board? Picture of the canbus plug on the wiki shows pins c and d and also h and j for can hi and can low (think it was agco picture ')
Worst case with a CAN sniffer the existing Solsteer communication could be recorded and from that some smart guys can figure out what it takes to get it moving.
Does it also have ISOBUS? Maybe 2nd CAN is for that.
The solsteer box has a plug coming out of both ends off the box and both these cables go into that big connector as ive shown above.
Yes it has isobus, when you load an isobus implement it can either go to the john deere greenstar screen or you can swap it to the jcb’s own screen.
Bit of an update.
Finally had time and had a very quick play.
I plugged into the lower canbus socket as above, tractor had a right meltdown, screen wouldn’t load and a constant beeping. So i keyed off and tried the canbus plug above it,
fired it all back up and i had WAS readings and movement, set a ab line and it started steering i only used the steer button on the tablet for now so no idea if the joystick will activate it yet. But it definitely steers.
Managed to find the canbus plug on aliexpress, its prewired (but the colours are not right for can hi or can low) its also numbered correctly for the pins needed C amd D
I found this on AliExpress:
£4.41 | 1 Pc 9 Pin Deutsch Auto Waterproof Electronic Connector Wiring Harness Diagnosctic Circular Plug HD16-9-1939P J1939 HD16-9-1939S
Beeps and meltdowns = wrong CANBUS speed. That socket is possibly 500kbit, as opposed to the more common 250 (newer tractors are starting to use 500 in places tho).
As for the joystick, yes an Icon will engage the autosteer, just set it up in headland management (tho now I’ve said that, not sure you even need to do that for Icon, it might just work? Certainly, the older LCD-type models you do need to use HM so it’ll engage on the white button)
Also… why so many wires in that plug? They are all terminated safely, if they’re just tails, I hope?
Is it possible the canbus plugs on our icon are upside-down? Both plugs only have 4 usuable pins. The top plug worked bottom one had no response.
The plug came pre wired, only using 2 wires so the rest had the emds cut off and taped up.
Will have another play later on today.
Is there a way or knowing if the plug is the wrong speed plug? It fits in all the canbus sockets
The new green sockets (usually used at 500kbit) have one different-sized pin, but I was in a new '24 Puma the other day that had 3 green sockets, only one bus (that I tested, anyway), was at 500kbit if I remember right.
If it’s steering, I wouldn’t worry about it. You could always break out the sniffer if you’re curious.
Having a bit more of a play about.
Got it steering pretty good .
Have got it disengaging on the steering wheel now but cant seem to get autosteer to activate on the joystick. Ive tried all 3 steer activate options. Using the 4.1 micro aio maybe it needs a 2nd canbus chip?
The Icon has a different engage message I’d but same data bytes. What board are you using? If Tony’s can board then I have teensy code with the icon engage message on my github
One canbus is all you need of FastTrack, engage message is on the steering can.
Also make sure you have the led in the gps button on the pillar light up otherwise it doesn’t send the engage message.
As you are using the aio board you will need to edit the ino with the icon engage I’d.
