I just switched from single antenna to dual antenna on my tractor. I seem to be having a hard time getting it tuned. Steering seems to either be too aggressive going back and forth over the line, or if I back down the aggressiveness on everything it gets slow and wanders back and forth. I can’t seem to find the happy medium as easily as when I ran a single antenna/ IMU. Any tips for tuning a dual antenna/ hydraulic autosteer set up?
I had a similar experience on our sprayer. It would weave back and forth. It greatly improved with a bno and single antenna. I was hoping it would be more stable than single. Hopefully I can figure it out yet.
Have you more details?
Antennae placement, antennae offsets, Autodual fix selected or not etc…
WAS correctly calibrated…
The tractor I installed it on is my John Deere 6415. I have run the tractor for a year and a half with single and IMU. It worked pretty well. This spring I had a little weave back and forth over the line. I decided to try a dual antenna system. While waiting for the parts to arrive I adjusted settings and had it running quite well, I almost decided to skip installing dual antenna all together, but I wanted to try dual for times when the ground is rough and single/IMU seems to struggle. All that to say I am confident in all the hardware on the tractor including the WAS.
I fabricated a bar to mount the antennas on my cab mounts. The antennas have a spacing of 54" or 1.37 M.
I loaded the configuration files on the two F9P’s and installed them on my AIO 4.1 board. Then ran the antenna cables.
I then went into the settings menu of AgopenGPS (V6.3.3) and selected the antenna type dual button
After that I entered my new antenna dimensions
The first day I took it out and did some testing. On a paved road I could get very low XTE values, but to achieve that I had to set min to move and proportional gain values quite high and the front wheels were rapidly snapping their adjustments, they were not smooth subtle adjustments like I was used to previously. In the field I really struggled. I planted 12 acres yesterday, I kept playing with settings, but never really got it to the performance I know it’s capable of.
Thank you for the help
I am not familiar with the “auto dual fix” setting. I don’t know where to find that
When I went out to the tractor to take pictures of the settings in the menu. I just figured out what the problem was. I had forgotten to unselect “Invert roll” as I needed it, inverted for my IMU. I just took it for a quick test run down a bumpy gravel lane. It works great thank you for responding to my question.
Brilliant, I was happy with single+IMU but since switching to Dual am really happy, your setup looks good so I’m glad you found the problem.
That’s a great thing of dual no IMU to invert, no PCB to mount level and square, just works every time.
You need the latest version of AOG to have the auto dualfix function.
Thank you, what is the function of the dual fix setting?
Thanks for the explanation
