Hello we are thinking about setting up a John Deere 6920 with AOG I personally don’t like the thought of using a gear and wheel to steer the tractor and would much rather using a hydraulic system.
However I don’t even know where to start with the hardware, much less the software. I know it is possible because I see so many tutorials for it, but it seems to be so specific to each tractor. Do I need to get JD parts for this? Is there a website where we could purchase all hardware we would need?Is there a good topic on here for calibrating and integrating the system into the software? Thanks!!
While it will most of the time be running gps lines, we would also like to be able to remotely drive this tractor without having to be in the cab, so we can unload the combine ourselves without having to leave the combine etc. Is that possible?
AgOpenGPS will not do that for you. AgOpenGPS offers no remote control. AgOpenGPS is not equipped to do any kind of tractor speed control. AgOpenGPS is not equipped for any kind of tractor perimeter safety.
The closest thing to safety that AgOpenGPS will do is beep at you on your last U turn. You need an alert operator in the seat at all times.
Many such self driving grain cart projects have been started by different companies in the US and Canada and all of them stopped after accidents.
