Keya motor

Hi, I have a v4.5 standard pcb that I was planning on using a phidgets motor but have yet to purchase the motor, cytron etc, I have seen a few using the keya motor and it looks like a lot neater install but I have a few questions.

From what I read it can be used on older tractors that don’t have can bus, is this correct?

Is it as simple as supplying 12v to the keya and then connecting pin 16 on Ampseal to CANH to and pin 17 to CANL, flashing teensy using AOGConfigOMatic with Keya motorwheel?

Would it be RVC only or non-rvc?

My understanding is I wouldn’t need a cytron if using Keya motor?

I’m just checking my logic as if the above is correct it sounds a bit too easy

I have tried joining the keya motor aog telegram group but Im getting the invite link has expired, I am joined agopengps-international no problems.

Are there any disadvantages of the keya compared to a phidgets motor and gears?

Sorry for all the questions but I want to check my logic before ordering keya and finding out it cant be used as I think.

Have you looked at this? Lots of good info.

That is right. The canbus network is between the PCB and the motor.

I think so

RVC isn’t tied to the motor at all. If the PCB supports RVC ( I think it does), then you can use RVC if you want.

That’s correct.

That’s the link in the original post found here? Any chance that could be fixed or updated @andyinv ?

the only thing easier than this is getting the keya settings right.
To be honest I’ve not seen a big difference in behavior wherever we set the minpwm and proportional gain.

I usually start at around 20 for min and pgain on keya, that seems a decent baseline to go from…
