Hi, I am still having issues with connectivity on my setup.
Simple setup, F9P and auto section control kit.
I have a few symptoms, which I would like some reassurance on!
My tablet only has one USB port, so I am using a multi hub, not externally powered.
When I test my setup at home, I have only one issue, sometimes it won’t give me a location on the top left of AIO, usually a few restarts fixes this.
When I plug in the charger in my tractor it seems cause havoc.
If I run without the charger it works fine temporarily, then drops out, after a short time when I start working.
I have attached images of the errors
My thoughts are;
the charger (USB cigarette lighter type) is interfering with the USB ports
there is too much going on via one USB port, IE powering the F9P and nano, transferring data to and from F9P and nano.
What I think the solution for me is;
get an externally powered USB multihub (any suggestions)
go UDP, but I’m not familiar with this at all, and would like advice on how to swap to this. I assume a USB to ethernet port is a start, but after this I don’t know.
anyone else with similar issues? or have any advice for me.
Thank you in advance, see below images as discussed.

You have udp turned on by looks as its green. In that setting page you can send to serial or udp, check there perhaps.
Im hoping to use f9p and machine board via usb hub soon myself
I started with USB and then switched to UDP. Personally, I consider USB a bit of a time/money waster, and not worth the hassle of setting it up. UDP works every time.
Thanks for your input, I think I may have to go that way to save any future hassle, I’s like to expand to autosteer and rate control at some point, so maybe a USB isn’t ideal!
Have you any guides ok swapping to USB, can I use my original circuit boards etc?
Im guessing you’d need a ethernet shield to go on top of the nano then change your machine code from the usb option to to upd code. Not sure how you would add the f9p into this mix though
Keep us updated, ive been wondering weather i should change my machine module to udp just for a piece of mind of a better connection but if you need a usb to ethernet adapter maybe its still going to be a weak link.
The nano sits intop of the ethernet shield and the shield sits on top of the little break out board.
Not sure if the ethernet would power the nano and machine board though
Thank you for that, i can’t remember, i think it was a non genuine, so maybe a better driver is necessary. Though it does seem to work until too much is going on!
How big a relay board are you trying to power with the usb? I think 3 might be the limit but unsure. Im using a 16 relay board but using 12 but im powering that via a seperate supply so the usb is just sending the switching
Your charger gnd is also usb gnd on computer. So when you have another module at gnd to one point, electricity will travel through the gnd from the point with higher voltage to other gnd point with lower voltage.
On a tractor cabin cigarette lighter could be grounded to cabin which again has a gnd cable to tractor chassis. You will most likely be able to measure a small voltage difference between cabin and battery negative, especially when ventilation is set at high volume.
USB does not like voltage difference between gnd points.
And if the gnd cable from cabin to chassis is dry or corroded, you can have big difference.
