KaupoiMOD PCB v3

Eagle

hi @Kaupoi could you share the created project in eagle please? thanks

Not sure what you mean. .brd and .sch-files are available at my shared folder Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

Maybe he means extra librerys like for bno and etcā€¦

I am waiting for all the pieces to assemble it.

You have out there a diagram of the cables just like you had in V1?

Thanks.

I have now.

Thx so much

relay

im having trouble finding the recomended relay, could work as a replacement?

Yes almost any auto relay can work, when you have the seating soldered on the board. Or have the relay outside the PCB board (ignition on) plus an on off switch and + 12 v wire directly to 12 v (out) on the PCB (or the big solder hole close to the D2 diode

Hi @Kaupoi, you have done a great job.
Where did you buy the metal box?
Thank you very much

Thanks!
I bought the case parts from Elfadistrelec. Some parts of the case are no longer available from there.

The hydraulic valve version need 10 A fuse.

How many amp do you need for Phidgets 3269_2 and Cytron MS13s controller ?

The max load of XW-12-24-240W is output 10A 24V.

So the max imput is 20A 12V ?

From Phidgets 3269_2 spec:

Rated voltage 24 VDC
Rated current 2.2 A
Stall current 10A.

In stall condition, the power is 240W. Input 20A
In rated condition, the power is 53 W. Input 4.4 A

I have used a 10A fuse in all configurations; both hydraulic and electric motor (Phidgets 24V + Cytron). The fuse has never blown. But Iā€™ve never been in a situation where an electric motor is stalling.

I have a proposal for changes to the PCB

  1. adding a voltage level change jumper pin 3.3v and 5v at the i2c line
2.adding a free joint on the qwiic plate edging (this will enable the connection of BNO080 in the future)
  2. Changing the pin configuration in i2c SCL SDA VCC GND
  3. adding a change of the raster for C20, C21 5mm, 7.5mm capacitors will enable the use of a larger capacitor capacity, better filtering of the power supply and suppression of ripple caused by the operation of the motor.
5.Adding a connector for PWM2 and GND pins to connect an additional relay (disconnecting MD13s, free turning the steering wheel)

Good ideas. I just donā€™t really know how to make all of them fit on a 100mm * 100mm pcb. I wouldnā€™t want to increase the size. But I have to think about it.
It would make it easier to have a wiring diagram for the changes because I donā€™t really know how those connections should be made.
The GND + PWM2 connector is easy to add though.

Make a new design, with a new name, for example KaupoiPCB Large, and keep developing the two.

Itā€™s just an idea  :stuck_out_tongue:

Send a diagram what changes would I plan and where to place?
in general, I worked on the board in eda, but I have little knowledge about designing an already finished board due to the fact that we have a GND cast on the entire board.

Below is the KaupoiMOD V3.0.1.b motherboard with bno080.
It gives positive results.
Within a week, I will send it folded on qwiic connectors.

PS.
Why donā€™t you use JST connectors?
Because the crimper for them is expensive.
I bought ready-made tips and there is a problem with them.
The cables to the jst connectors are thin and in my opinion the signal losses are too high.

Do you have the code order for Batt +12/GND and Out +12V/Gnd connector ?

JST connector can be assembled with soldering.

I havenā€™t had any issues with jst connectors. I bought the crimper for jst xh connectors from aliexpress. Paid about 20ā‚¬ for it. Mostly Iā€™m using ready made wires though.
