Hey everyone, I need some help getting the machine board set up. I don’t know why i’m stuggling so much with this one. Using the arduino code Machine UDP V5. I have uploaded to the nano, I have tried the Nano V3 Ethernet Shield ENC28J60 Microchip HR911105A that mounts to the nano as seen in some of the videos. Red board in the photos. I have tried mutiple nanos as well as 3 different shields that i bought in this configuration. I cannot get them to work. The sheild chip just gets really hot, and the nanos basically freak out, aka i cannot get the serial montior to work when connected via usb and the shield is plugged in. The ethernet lights never light up when the ethernet plug is pluged into the computer and the computer doesn’t recgoize it. I have also tried a H911 break out board that is not the direct mount to the nano version, and wired it to the nano. In this case the nano doesn’t lose signal or anything and the break out board doesn’t get hot like the direct mount version does, but again i’m not getting any ethernet indicator lights or connection to the computer via ethernet.
I need some advice on what to check or where to start next.
Why do you want to use the ethernet as machine board setup?
I use a nano running on usb really successfully on a 12 row beet drill and also use usb on a grimme potato planter. then i use the ethernet to connect to the aio pcb
I notice you’re using the nano clone not a genuine nano, are you sure the code uploaded successfully as i found the clones quite hard work to accept a sketch whereas the genuine nano is 1st time every time
Have you configured a IP address for the ethernet setup/nano
I went round and round too the first time I tried to set up section control. I bought a 3 pack of the red shields. I bought the shield in the picture below. With that shield it worked right away. I found an article that mentioned some of the Ethernet shields have a different pin out, so I think the red ones would work if the pins were correctly assigned. The trouble is none of there cheap components have data sheets available to figure out the pin out.
Irronically i tried to order the blue one, and it was advertised as a blue one, but a red one showed up. I’m not sure if they stopped making that version or what the deal is. I messaged the seller and they said red is all they have now. I’m betting their is a difference, but i cannot find data sheets for these anywhere.
