Another example of steering sensor mount. The OEM steering sensor wire in the bottom of the kingpin lasted no 50 hours of use, twisting down in the bottom of the pin. So I decided I’d try a different method, and got an A&I Products version of the John Deere steering sensor and made brackets to fit. It is hooked up into the factory steering sensor harness and works well!

Installing my WAS and this is a photo of the Landrover YMQ503220 plug I got on ebay. Looks like wires go to the wrong three pins?
Anyone care to comment?
I have ordered another one from a different supplier…
1 is ground 4 signal 5 is 5v
Yes, but unless I’m somehow looking at it wrong, these wires go to pins 2,3 & 6.
The correct pins 1,4 & 5 have no wires.
Most plugs can be disassembled. The white part on your plug could be the lock?
Have a look here for the pin out. Sometimes the plug is assembled different
It can also have 2 sensors inside… 3 pins for onr and 3 for another one. Try before disassembling the connector.
You are right, this is possible, why would someone sell a plug with ‘opposite’ pins if it was no good? I will test it and let you all know.
You cant burn it, its hall effect sensor it has magnets inside, so any wrong combination of wiring shouldn’t damage anything, but im 99% sure it has 2 sensors. Try pins 6 negative 3 positive and 2 output.
I can’t get any sense out of testing pins 2,3,6. What I have discovered is some other car manufacturers use the same plug and perhaps I’ve been mis-sold one of those. All the evidence is pins 1,4,5 are the ones to use and hopefully the new plugs I’ve ordered will be the right ones.
This is my one on a JD 6400 Landrover arm is cut a bit shorter to make it exactly the same throw as the steering. Time will tell if it needs a bit of protection…
Do you have any more pictures
Looks neat, do you have any more pictures, does it work well in the field?
No but I can get some more. It’s bolted to an existing bolt hole, a pipe clamp for the steering, and then just clamped to the track rod on the front of the axle.
I’ve had no issue so far but I haven’t used it extensively. I’ve had it on the axle for a month or so before I had the autosteer working to try to field test it
Looks like you have a steering angle sensor on the king pin already
